I did my clercship in Ankara, Turkey
at July 2007. My department was orthopedical surgery in baskent university
hospital. Hospital was very good filling every western standards. Doctors were
especially nice and generally spoke good english. I think the hospital and
health care system was quite similar to finnish one and its a good reason to
choose Turkey for student exhange. Turkish hospitality and friendliness was allways
present also in the hospital. Most of the time I spent with residents because
they had more time to teach me than doctors had. Usually I followed every

I was doing
my clerkship in Marmara University Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. Marmara University Hospital is a fairly small hospital situated
in the Asian side of Istanbul. But the fact that it was small
offered me the chance to see other clinics as well, other than just General
Surgery. There are many differences between Finnish and Turkish hospitals.
First of all the hygiene level was really lower in this hospital. In addition
the patient's relatives were always in the hospital taking care of the patient.
