Brasilia

Londrina 2007

I bought my flights from Kilroy travels and they cost 1200 euros. I 
got to know my exchange town, Londrina (that was just the opposite 
side of the coutry where I had applied for), relatively late so I 
cound not by the ticket that early. I flew with Air France from 
Helsinki, via Paris, to Sao Paulo. My contact person from Londrina had 
kindly (Brazilians are amazingly friendy and helpful) arranged his 
friend to pick me up from Sao Paulo airport so I got a ride to Sao 

Ribeirao Preto 2007

I did the exchange in Brazil, a city called Ribeirao Preto. It's a city with a population of half million people. It is located in the Sao Paulo state and it's known for it's wealth and always sunny weather. I was at the department of emergency medicine so I got to see how the ER and intensive care rooms in Brazil where. Some days I got see some other things too, for example the obstetrics room and some days I went to the homecare too, which was really intresting since I got to see how the brazilian homes are. As already mentioned the city was among one of the richest in Brazil,

Rio de Janeiro 2005

The research project was led by Marilia de Brito Gomes, the professor and leader of the department of Diabetes and Metabology. The project wasn’t really a project, but more like a clinical clerkship. We would just follow and observe at the out-patients clinic and then measure the glucose levels of the diabetic people and interview them (in portuguese). There were of course interesting days and less interesting days.
