Krakova 2007
I participated professional exchange in Szpital Uniwersytecki at the clinic of
general surgery. At the fist morning a polish student showed me the way to the
clinic and introduced me to the doctors. Besides me, there were two other
exchange students at the same ward.
At the time the doctors in Poland were having a
strike, so only critical and
cancer patients were operated. Therefore we mostly got to see cancer
patients
and GI- surgeries. The operations would have been interesting, but there was so

The children's hospital I was working in was a bit higher level than other hospitals in Poland in general, I guess. It wasn't as modern as the hospitals are in Finland but it wasn't that far from it. The hospital was well equipped and had good facilities to treat the patients.
Lublin 2007
My research exchange took place in a south-eastern polish city called Lublin. There I was in the Department of Genetics, which was in an old university building in need of some serious renovating. The labs weren´t as hi-tech as in Finland, but they had all the equipment needed for diagnostics and research. Unfortunately half of the department was under renovation almost the whole time of my stay.
