I spent my
preclinical exchange in Trondheim, Norway. My department was mainly
endocrinology. In addition to that I spent time also in departments of
gastrology, cardiology and ER. My usual day started with a meeting with the
doctors in endocrinology department and they discussed days program and
patients. After that I usually followed one of the doctors either to the rounds
at the ward or to at policlinic. At afternoons endocrinologist just did
paperworks or gave consultation by phone, so I was usually at the gastro or

My exchange position was in Universitetssykehus Nord Norge (UNN) in Norway,
Tromso.
I had a great time and will miss all my new friends! I lived with three
other girls in a student hostel where we all had own rooms but shared the
kitchen and the toilets. It took about 10 minutes to the hospital by buss
and 30 minutes on foot. Otherwise the lodging was fine, but we didn´t
actually had an opportunity to cook there although I had made sure from my
contact person beforehand that we could. There was a stove and a fridge in

I did my preclinical exchange program in Trondheim, Norway in the summer of 2006. During the first
week I worked at the newborn intensive care unit of St. Olav’s hospital, and the second week I spent in
the delivery department. The building for women and children was very nice and brand new. Doctors,
nurses and midwives were all very helpful, patient and nice. Everybody I encountered spoke fluent
English. They preferred Swedish, however, and I tried my best to use it. Usually they understood my

Olin kahden viikon
prekliinisessä vaihdossa heinäkuun kaksi vikaa viikkoa Trondheimissä. Matkustin

I was in
the Haukeland Hospital in Bergen. First week I was in the Gastro surgery
department and second week I spent in urology department. I was supposed to be
with a just graduated doctor, who was on duty, but mostly i spent my time in
the surgery rooms. Normally I was with a swedish preclinic student just hanging
around in front of the surgery theaters and we asked from surgeons that if we
could go and see some operations. Usually it was alright, and we were able to
see some gastro surgery operations, bypasses and few urological operations. Few

I did my
preclinical exchange project in Trondheim, Norway. In St. Olav's hospital I was supposed to
be in neurology, but somehow I found myself in the department of neurosurgery.
However, it was a really good experience. The department was just rebuilt and
everything was new and of high technology. All the doctors, nurses and other
personnel were more than nice and explained also in English about the
department and patients. The first week I participated in the morning meetings
with the doctors, and it was quite interesting even though I did not understand

I did my
preclinical exchange at the Department of Neurology in Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen during the first two weeks of July
2006.
The typical
day started at 8 a.m. with the morning meeting of the
department where the doctors discussed the patient cases together. After that,
we went to the main building where the radiological meetings were held. The
meetings were interesting, though quite challenging to follow.

I
did my preclinical exchange in Haukeland University Hospital
in Bergen, Norway. I was in the department of cardiovascular surgery. I usually spent
about four-five hours at the hospital per day. The day started with the
doctors' morning meeting after which I usually followed a doctor to the
operation room where I got to follow an operation. I saw cardiac bypass
surgeries as well as a couple of lung surgeries. The doctors were nice and it
was interesting to follow their work although they didn't always explain what
