My clinical exchange was to the Surgery Department of the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. Unfortunately, my intended supervising doctor in the Deparment of Traumatology had just retired. That is why the original plan of staying the whole of my five weeks in the trauma ward changed into two weeks in the Vascular Surgery, two weeks in the Traumatology and one week in the Lower Gastro-intestinal Surgery Department. I came to Holland one day earlier to have a little time to settle down before my exchange program was going to start. My tutor picked me up from the airport and took me to that studenthouse I was going to stay for the month. The studenthouse was quite in a bad shape comparing to Finland, everything was dirty and broken. There were almost 15 Dutch students living with me, so at least there was somebody home almost all the time.
Amsterdam 2003
I took part in a clerkship exchange for 4 weeks at the Free University Medical Centre, one of the two medical universities in Amsterdam. I worked on a department for orthopedic surgery and I liked it a lot!
