Tampere

Size and location

Tampere is located in southwestern Finland, 140 kilometers from the southern coast. The city has about 200,000 citizens. Because of the northern location of Finland, there is plenty of sunlight during the summers, but on the other handthe winters are pretty dark.

Attractions and specialities

The most popular attraction in Tampere might be the amusement park, ‘Särkänniemi’. As the city lies between two lakes, there are quite a few beautiful lakeside views, ports and also some beaches. There are also a number of museums, for example the Lenin museum, and the Spy museum. The ‘Vapriikki’ museum area offers various exhibitions from around the world. The aforementioned area also reflects the city’s industrial backround, as the exhibition halls are reconstructed from old factories.

Outdoors

It doesn’t take long to find a peaceful place to walk or jog in the nearby forests, since they are only a twenty minute walk from the city center.

Transport

The city buses are pretty accessible and efficient. An hour’s ride on a city bus costsat the moment 2 €. It is easy to reach Tampere by train or bus, and there is also an airport located only 20 kilometers from Tampere, also easy to reach by bus from the center.
